The Austrian Embassy in Ottawa is located at 445 Wilbrod Street, Ottawa, ON. You can contact them by phone at 613 789 1444.

Documents needing to be legalized for use in Austria need to undergo a process of authentication.

If your document requires it, the first step is to have the documents notarized before a valid Canadian notary public. All notaries associated with notary-toronto.ca have been appointed directly by the Ministry of the Attorney General.

The second step is to have your documents authenticated by Global Affairs Canada. The cost for authentication is free. You can read over this process by clicking here. The Austrian Embassy offers to bring your documents to Global Affairs Canada for a fee which changes monthly. To find out the current fee for authentication services from the Austrian embassy, you can email Christopher.DEUTSCH@bmeia.gv.at

The final step is to legalize your authenticated documents. The Austrian Embassy again charges a fee per document for legalization and the amount changes monthly. You can find out the monthly fee directly from the Embassy.

In order to legalize documents, the Austrian embassy requires:
  • The correct amount of money in cash (CAD), money order, or certified cheque made out to the "Austrian Embassy Ottawa".
  • A pre-stamped return envelope.
  • The authenticated and notarized documents to be legalized.
  • Cover letter with your contact information as well as instructions on what you would like the Austrian Embassy to do.
The Austrian Embassy's processing time for their legalization process is between 5 to 7 days.
