The Egyptian Consulate is located at N# 1800 Av. McGill College suite 900, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, H3A 3J6. Unfortunately, the Egyptian government does not operate a Consulate in Toronto.

The Egyptian Consulate in Montreal has two separate processes, depending on whether your documents are personal or related to a commercial transaction or business.

Regular (personal) Legalization

If you are wishing to have a signed document legalized for use in Egypt, you must present the original to the Consulate. The Egyptian Consulate will refuse to legalize a document with a photocopied signature. The document must also be notarized by a valid notary in Canada. The following are the fees required (per documents) to legalize documents for use in Egypt:
  1. $40 CAD cash per legalization.
  2. $45 CAD cash for a translation legalization.
You must attach a copy of your Egyptian passport or your National Identity Card to your Power of Attorney document you wish legalized by the Egyptian Consulate. If you are mailing your documents to the Egyptian Consulate to be legalized, remember to insert a pre-paid return envelope and a cover letter explaining what you would like done to your document to the Consulate staff will know what to do. It is a good idea to include a phone number and/or email address where Consulate staff can reach you in case they have any questions. Additionally, if you are sending your documents in the mail, you MUST pay by using a money order made out to "EGYPTIAN CONSULATE IN MONTREAL". The Egyptian Consulate does not accept cash or personal cheques in mailed envelopes.

The original birth, death and marriage certificates may be brought directly to the Egyptian Consulate without notarizing or sending it to Global Affairs Canada. However, divorce certificates must have a seal from Global Affairs Canada. All other documents must first be notarized.  

*remember to include a duplicate copy of your documents, the Consulate will want to keep the duplicate for their files

Commercial Legalization

The Egyptian Consulate charges $85 CAD per document and estimates that legalization of Commercial documents takes approximately 2 business days. Your commercial documents must be stamped by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of Board of Trade prior to legalization by the Egyptian Consulate. When you are applying for legalization in person at the Egyptian Consulate, remember to bring a duplicate copy which will be kept in the Consulate files.
