Legalization of Official Documents

In order to legalize an official Canadian document for use in Indonesia, you must:
  • Bring the original document and a photocopy.
  • Non-business documents cost $30 CAD and must be payed in the form of a money order/bank draft payable to "Indonesian Consulate".
  • Business documents cost $150 CAD and must be payed in the form of a money order/bank draft payable to "Indonesian Consulate".
  • If you are not Indonesian, your documents must be authenticated by Official Documents Services, you can read about this process by clicking here! Please note, you must have the documents notarized prior to authentication. Please book an appointment using the button in the top right hand corner of this page.
If you require a Power of Attorney to be legalized, you should read the following:
  1. You must first bring a notarized Power of Attorney to the Consulate of Indonesia. You can book an appointment with us, just click on the book appointment button in the top right of this page. Remember, your Power of Attorney should refer to your Passport number as well as your address in Canada. You must also attach a photocopy of your Passport to your Power of Attorney.
  2. The notarized Power of Attorney must be authenticated by the Official Document Services, you can read about this process by clicking here!
  3. Bring a photocopy of your notarized Power of Attorney. The Consulate of Indonesia will keep the photocopy. 
The Consulate of Indonesia charges $30 CAD per Power of Attorney and they must be paid by certified cheque or money order payable to "Indonesian Consulate".

Usually the Consulate of Indonesia can process the legalization on the same day. However, if you have multiple documents, you may be asked to come back on another day. Additionally, the Consulate of Indonesia only legalizes documents Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. However, their public hours change during public holidays and the Holy month of Ramadhan. 

You can submit your documents by mail, however, remember to include a letter explaining what you would like done as well as contact information in the case that the Consulate officer has any questions. Also, you must include a pre-stamped envelope if you are submitting documents in the mail and wish the Consulate to return the documents.
